Caderousse, a village historically marked by the floods of the Rhône, benefits from effective protection thanks to its emblematic dike. Built in the 19th century to counteract the repeated damage caused by floods to homes and farmland, this 1.8 km long and 10 meters high structure proved its effectiveness during the major floods of the 20th century. Today, in addition to safeguarding the town, the dike has become an attraction for visitors eager to learn more about this important hydraulic device and Caderousse’s history of survival against the whims of the Rhône.
